Winter workouts begin on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 and continue through Friday, March 2, 2017. They will take place Monday – Thursday, 3:30 – 4:30 pm at the Silver Spring United Methodist Church (33 University Blvd East; formerly called Marvin Memorial UMC).
All returning and new rowers must complete the full Winter Blair Crew Registration process before they will be allowed to work out with the team for the Winter season.

Blair Crew’s annual holiday wreath and candle sale is one of our two major fundraisers for the year. Along with the Erg-a-Thon in the spring, this is how we supplement membership fees to pay for coaches’ salaries, equipment maintenance, regatta fees, insurance, and more. Blair Crew relies on each of us to take part to keep the boats afloat!
Part of each rowing family’s membership commitment is to raise or contribute $200 per year (combined seasons). The great news is that wreaths and Menorah candles are an easy sale to family, friends, neighbors, even local businesses.

Friday: 3:30 Bus to BWP. Change into rowing gear — leave all your stuff on bus. Row to Anacostia Boat House. Bus to Claire Hibbeln’s house. Team dinner until 9:00pm. Pick up rowers at the Hibbeln’s. Men’s Jr. 4+ will row four, 4 novices will fill in for these rowers in the 8+.
Saturday: All rowers arrive at 7:45am for Coaches coxswain meeting.

Parking for rowers and spectators will be at the Maritime Plaza parking lot. The parking lot is on M Street before you get to the boathouse. The address for the Maritime Parking Lot is 1201 M St SE, Washington, DC 20003. The parking lot is a 3/4 mile walk to the boathouse — or about a 15-minute walk. Shuttles will also be running. About 2:30 or 3:00 (as soon as all rowers are back, feed, and rested), we will row back to Bladensburg Waterfront Park.
Pick up rowers at BWP 4:00pm.
Our first regatta of the season is this Saturday, September 24, at the Anacostia Community Boathouse. Novice parents and rowers, if you haven’t been to a regatta before, this is a great opportunity for you! We really hope you will come and cheer for the team. It’s a good idea to bring the following items: lawn chairs, blankets, something to read, sunscreen, and binoculars. Look for the Blair Crew tent. Unfortunately, we need to postpone the Blair Crew Family Potluck for tomorrow, Saturday, Sept 17.
Tomorrow is “Port Town Day” at Bladensburg Water Park from 12 noon to 7 pm and it is expected that the park will be crowded and parking difficult.
We will reschedule and let you know when the family potluck will be.

Join other Blair Crew parents and rowers for an informal family potluck after practice on Saturday, September 17th at noon at Bladensburg Waterfront Park.
Fall team dinners for rowers will be held after water practice on Friday, September 23rd, and on Friday, November 4th. The bus will drop rowers off at the team dinner location.
